TROY — Carl R. McFarland, 85, of Troy, Ohio passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Koester Pavilion.
He was born September 13, 1930 in Springfield, Ohio the son of the late Horace & Clara (Free) McFarland.
He retired from BP America after 45 years of service and was a school bus driver for 17 years. He was an Eagle Scout with two palms, volunteer Fire Dept., Donnelsville, Ohio.
He also loved fishing, geneology, at one time, caring for over 200 rose bushes, and was a member of the Troy Moose Lodge 2695.
He is survived by two sons, Michael A. & Patricia McFarland, Richard L. McFarland & partner Jack Olson; daughter, Lori L. (McFarland) & Bill Whitten; two grandchildren, Jeffrey S. & Lisa Whitten, Brian D. & Leslie Whitten; three step grandchildren, Chris & Janet Powell, Jeff & Rhonda Powell, Jill Powell; nine great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo & Doris McFarland; two half sisters, Kay & Paul Collins, Carlyn & Glenn Robinson; one brother-in-law, Donald Will; one sister-in-law, Mary Will; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife of 55 years, Dorothy (Will) McFarland; and a brother, John Earl McFarland.
Visitation will be 3-5 PM Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home, New Carlisle, Ohio with funeral services at 5 PM in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Miami Valley Council, BSA 7285 Poe Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45414.
