KETTERING -- Carolus A. (Carl) Schneider, beloved husband, Dad, Oompapa and friend, died on All Saint's Day, November 1, 2022, and is now entertaining the hosts of heaven with his endless collection of puns and corny jokes.
Carl was born on Oct. 3, 1932, in Piqua, OH, the 7th of 10 children of George and Clara (Reineke) Schneider. He was a proud 1950 graduate of Piqua Catholic HS. He later received a BS from UD, and Masters' Degrees from both Wright State and UD. He taught 5th and 6th Grades at Southdale School in Kettering for 25 years, then served as a Consultant for the Parish Resource Center in Dayton. He was an Oblate of St. Benedict, and a devoted member of St. Charles Parish in Kettering since 1966, where he sang in the Choir, served on the Parish Council and Social Justice Committees, and played the piano for daily Mass for many years. He was a self-taught musician who shared his talent by singing in and directing a Barbershop chorus, the Kettering Senior Center Kitchen Band, playing piano for countless nursing homes, and at Von Maur. As a member of the Dayton Liederkranz Turner and Kettering Sister Cities, he and his wife Judy enjoyed traveling to Germany and Austria, hosting visitors from both, and meeting distant cousins in Untergrombach.
On July 16, 1971, he married Judy Fussner, and she survives, along with sons Greg (wife Bridget, and daughter Ellie) and Jon (wife Angie, children Ceci and Jasper), both of Portland OR, and Mike (son Reid) of Kettering, 2 brothers - Phil of Piqua, and Denny (Shari) of Chillicothe, numerous nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Barbara Fagan, Patricia Lyle, Therese Pierson Culver, Francis, Roman, Tony, and Rudy, and dear friends Gordon and Joanne Fuchs.
Always the teacher, Carl has chosen to donate his body to the Anatomical Gift Program at Wright State, to educate the doctors of tomorrow.
Carl's Memorial Mass will be scheduled for a later date. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd. in Kettering. Visitation 1 hour before the Mass. Memorial gifts can be made to St. Charles Parish or the Dayton Liederkranz Turner.

What a beautiful writing of Uncle Carl´s life. He was an amazing man; always with a joke or song ready to share. Loved visiting to hear all about travels and people he met. Incredible mind. Thank you for all the stories, uncle Carl. I love you so much.
