PIQUA -- Daniel F. Califf, 90, of Piqua, passed away at 4:32 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2022. He was born August 31, 1931 in Quincy, Illinois. He married Kathy D. Shanklin November 21, 1953 in Arlington Heights, Illinois; and she preceded him in death November 21, 2021.
Survivors include three children, John (Joan) Califf of Findlay, Beth (Gary) Gibbons of Overland Park, Kansas, Charles (Beth) Califf of Greendale, Indiana; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Mr. Califf was a graduate of Carthage High School and Carthage College. He and Kathy met at Carthage College in the fall of their freshman year. For nearly 30 years Mr. Califf worked for the Red Wing Shoe Company before his 1994 retirement as National Sales Manager for the Eastern half of the United States. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a long-time member of Piqua's Greene Street United Methodist Church. He was a devoted fan of the football programs of the Piqua Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
A service to honor his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the Greene Street United Methodist Church, Rev. Will Leasure officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2022 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greene Street United Methodist Church, 415 W. Greene St. Piqua, OH 45356. Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy, to be provided to the family, may be expressed through jamiesonandyannucci.com.
