PIQUA - David G. Wheeler, 79, of Piqua, went to be with the Lord at 9:24 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born June 12, 1943 in Miami County to the late Robert and Gladyce (Leis) Wheeler. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara S. Henderson. They were married June 9, 1961 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Piqua.
Other survivors include a son, Robert (SuAnn) Wheeler of West Jefferson; a daughter, Kimberly (Harley) Stephan of Piqua; six grandchildren, Kathryn (Andy Pickrel) Stephan, David (Emily) Stephan, Andrew (Elizabeth) Stephan, Ross (Tiffany) McQuirt, Ashley McQuirt, Jared (Kimberly) Wheeler; fourteen great grandchildren; a brother, James (Karen) Wheeler of Piqua; and a sister, Becky Carter of Covington. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ben Wheeler.
Mr. Wheeler was a 1961 graduate of Piqua Central High School. He worked as an Assembler for French Oil Mill Machinery and traveled extensively for the company. He retired following forty years of dedication. He was an active member of Our Savoir Lutheran Church and was a church Trustee. He enjoyed wood working, was a member of the Farm Bureau, and was a ten year member of 4-H program and was very active while his children were involved with the program. Additionally, he enjoyed farming, tending to his apple trees, traveling and spending time with his family and many friends.
A service to honor his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Pastors of Our Savior Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 517 McKinley Ave. Piqua, OH 45356 or the Cardiac Rehabilitation Group through the UVMC Foundation 3130 N.
