PIQUA -- Estelle Agnes Heiner, 94, of Piqua, passed away at 6:07 p.m. March 14th, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Estelle was the devoted wife of Harold L. Heiner, with whom she shared over 72 years of marriage. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Estella (Oldring) Mooney and was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Mooney Jr.
Graduating from the Bellevue School of Nursing, New York City, New York in the class of 1949, Estelle devoted her life to caring for others. As a Registered Nurse, she worked for the American Red Cross and, beginning in 1973 for 15 years, she was a school nurse for the Piqua City Schools including Nicklin, South Street, Staunton Street, High Street, Springcreek and Washington Elementary Schools. In 1978, Estelle returned to college and graduated with a degree from Central State University to teach health classes in the schools.
As a faithful member of the St. Mary's & St. Boniface Catholic Churches, Estelle especially valued her time as a religious education teacher, Altar Society president and member for 15 years and St. Clare Eucharistic Chapel Perpetual Adoration adorer for twenty years. She found pleasure in being a part of the Piqua community as a member of the Piqua Cotillion Club, Columbian Club and YWCA of Piqua for over twenty years. She was an Individual Life Trustee for The Piqua Community Foundation.
