PQIUA - Generose Warling, age 95, of Piqua, OH passed away at 8:12 a.m. on Saturday January 11, 2025, at the Courtyard of Troy.
She was born in Lexington, KY on May 1, 1929, to the late James T. and Frances (Hodges) Chism.
On October 25, 1947, in Winchester, IN, she married Robert L. Warling, and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2001.
Generose is survived by two daughters and son-in-law: Claudia (Randy) Adams, Piqua, OH, Cynthia Cutler, Mentor, OH; one stepdaughter: Sharon Mathes, Troy, OH; two sons and daughters-in-law: Thomas (Carol) Warling, Myrtle Beach SC, Robert (Carmen) Warling, Del Rio, TX; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother: James Chism.
Generose graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1947. She worked at the Piqua Daily Call for 10 years in the mail room as a clerk. Generose was also a loving homemaker and active in South Street School PTA, serving a year as PTA Treasure. In 1970 she proudly served as a census worker.
Generose's passion was reading, introducing her children at an early age to the Piqua Public Library. She was a member of the Arthritic water class at the Piqua YMCA for many years. Generose also spent many years compiling a family tree of ancestors.
The family of Generose would like to thank all of the staff at the Courtyard of Troy, DayCity Hospice as well as Kelly Meckstroth and Shani Karn.
A service to honor Generose's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday January 24, 2025, at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua, OH with Chaplain Mark Batton officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Piqua Ambulance Fund 301 W. Water St. Piqua, OH. 45356.
