TROY - James "Jim" Blount passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the age of 68 in Troy, Ohio. Jim was the second son born to John and Elaine Blount on April 9, 1957, in Middletown, Ohio. In high school, he played football, wrestled, competed in track and field, and was on the diving team. He also participated in his high school choir. After graduating, Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force. His love of singing continued while he was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he was selected to sing with the Keesler Male Chorus.
Jim met Judy Burleson at Wright State University, and the couple married on December 20, 1985. They moved to Troy, Ohio, in 1989 and went on to have three children: Jillian, Joel, and Jessica. Jim received a bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix and spent his career working in manufacturing. After retiring, he worked at Lowe's in Troy, where he enjoyed interacting with and assisting the community. He was a dedicated husband and father who loved to cook and cheer on his Ohio State Buckeyes. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, intelligence, and his love of cooking for others.
Jim is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Howard Burleson of Layton, Utah; his brothers, Jeff Blount and Jay Blount of Monroe, Ohio; and his parents, John and Elaine Blount, also of Monroe, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Judy Blount, and their three children: Jillian Blount (Caleb Heffelfinger) of New Albany, Ohio; Joel Blount of Blacklick, Ohio; and Jessica Blount of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Brenda Burleson of Beavercreek, Ohio; his brothers-in-law, Steve Burleson (Robin Burleson) of Troy, Ohio, and Jeff Burleson (Amber Mather) of Leesburg, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
