James Snider

PIQUA -- James E. "Jim" Snider, age 88, of Piqua, entered the gates of Heaven at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Hospice of Miami County. He was born September 17, 1934 in Piqua to the late Charles and Erma "Louise" (Moore) Snider.

Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years of marriage: Arlene A. (Thorne) Snider, whom he married November 17, 1956. He is also survived by five sons, Steve (Kay) Snider, Piqua, Don (Cris) Snider, Fletcher, Tim Snider, Covington, Doug (Kelly) Snider, Piqua, and Tom (Ann) Snider, Covington; ten grandchildren, Luke (Jennifer) Snider, Sara (John) Cleveland, Cody (Andrea) Snider, Matt (Brittany) Snider, Lauren (Cynthia) Seman, Mitchell Havenar, Tiffany (Wes) Hanahan, Michael Corkhum, Tabitha (Kreg) Echeman, and Samantha (Cory) Townsend; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sisters, Ruth Leist, Sidney, and Marybelle Shafer, Findlay; and a sister in law, Marline Thorne of The Villages, Florida; and two brothers in law, Larry Thorne, Sidney, and Gary Thorne, Toledo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Betty Huffman, Nelson Snider, Charles "Bud" Snider, Pat Woodroome and his infant brother Richard.

Jim was a 1952 graduate of Piqua Central High School. He retired in 1999 from Sidney Tool & Die. He was a very active member of the Snyder Road Church of God, Piqua. He also enjoyed working outdoors and fishing.

A Celebration to honor his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Keeran officiating. Burial will follow at Fletcher Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday evening, also at the funeral home.
