TROY - JB Gibson, age 73 of Troy, passed away Monday, January 1, 2024, at Grandview Hospital, Dayton.
He was born January 11, 1950, in Hyden, KY to the late Howard Gibson and Margaret (Collins) Mayo.
Those left to cherish JB's memory include his wife Sue (Phyillaier) Gibson; son Michael "Mike" Walker (Sally) of Mt. Gilead; daughters Tamara Gibson of Waynesville and Wendy Fisher (Michael) of Bradford; grandchildren Grace Byler (John), James Walker, Reagan Leigh Rutherford, Andrew Dilts (Erin), Joshua Fisher, Daniel Fisher, Rachel Fisher, and Emma Fisher; as well as brothers Earl Gibson (Kim) of Middletown and Danny Mayo of Florida, and sister Darlene Crews of Florida.
JB was a proud US Marine Corps combat veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was an influential and dedicated member of VFW Post #5436 in Troy along with his wife, Sue. He served as Past Commander and was a former canteen manager as well as a former District and State Commander. He was also a life member of AmVets Post #88, Troy and a member of the American Legion Post #43, Troy. JB was instrumental in forming the Veteran's Memorial Honor Guard in Troy. He was also a Master Mason at Mt. Olivet Lodge in Christiansburg.
JB owned his own concrete business, JB Concrete, which served the Montgomery and Miami County areas. JB's hobbies included shooting, gardening, reading, and hunting.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2024, at the VFW Post #5436: 2220 Lefevre Rd, Troy, OH 45373 officiated by Mr. Richard Carr. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the VFW. Interment will follow at Casstown Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Veteran's Memorial Honor Guard of Troy. Memorial donations may be given to the VFW Post #5436, Troy, or the Disabled American Veterans.
