TIPP CITY — John J. Staley, 86, of Tipp City, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born on March 22, 1929, in Piqua, to the late John and Helen (Shanesy) Staley.
He married Lora D. Martin on March 25, 1955; and she survives him.
John is survived by five daughters: Denise (Mick) Bjerke, Tipp City, OH, Melissa (Randy) Seiter, Springfield, OH, Mary (Pat) Cunningham, Tipp City, OH, Lorie (Kurt) Koehler, Tipp City, OH and Annette Egbert, Urbana, OH; one brother: Richard "Dick" Staley, Piqua, OH; one sister: Judy Weigel, Piqua, OH; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by four brothers; Robert "Bob" Staley, Thomas "Tom" Staley, Patrick "Pat" Staley, Bernard Staley; three sisters: Mary Garcia, Martha Dever and Connie Evans.
John served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a Corporal. After an honorable discharge, he began his long career with H.J. Osterfeld Company in Dayton, Ohio as their purchasing agent. He worked with this fine group of people until he retired in 1991.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday June 29, 2015 at 10:30am at St. Johns Catholic Church in Tipp City. Burial will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery where full military honors will be provided. Visitation will be from 09:30-10:30am at the church prior to the Mass. The family is asking in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Dayton, the organization that was truly a blessing for our loved one in his final days. Arrangements have been entrusted to Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH 45371.
