PIQUA - Judith K. Cotrell, 85, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 8:34 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2023, at Hospice of Miami County. She was born December 21, 1937, in Tazwell, Virginia to the late Mary J.L. Lawrence and her late stepfather, Arthur Poling. She married Joseph Cotrell February 3, 1956, in Piqua; and he preceded her in death November 22, 2011.
Survivors include two sons, Eddie (Sheryl) Cotrell, Bruce Cotrell, all of Piqua; a daughter, Angela (Allan) Shaw of Piqua; five grandchildren, Sarah Davis, Joseph Cotrell, Matthew Cotrell, Somer Dawn (Jason) Fitzpatrick, Tony Cotrell; seven great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Wyatt, Josalynn, Jason, Lyla, Waylon, Grace; two brothers, Arthur Poling, Marshall Poling; a sister, Pamela Mowrey; and many nieces and nephews that she loved and cherished. She was preceded in death by; a daughter, Betty Ann Cotrell; two brothers, Johnny Poling, Mark Poling; two sisters, Mary Jo McReynolds, Alice Ann Poling; a granddaughter, Jodie Cotrell; and a daughter-in-law, Donita Cotrell.
Mrs. Cotrell was a 1955 graduate of Piqua Central High School. She worked for the Copeland Corporation for 33 years, from which she retired. She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post #184 and loved to play bingo, gamble, watch movies and spend time with her family. In her younger years, she enjoyed "burning up the highway" and traveling any chance she could. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and many friends.
A graveside service to honor her life will begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Forest Hill Cemetery at the top of the hill, with Pastor Andy Monnin officiating. A celebration of Judy's life will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the V.F.W. Post #4874. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the V.F.W. Post #4874 Building Fund, P.O.
