PIQUA - Linda L. Hemmert, 80, of Piqua, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 3:05 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2025, in her residence.
She was born December 30, 1944, in Piqua to the late William T. and Kathryn (Sloan) McGarvey. She married James F. Hemmert November 20, 1965, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Piqua, a blessed union that would span nearly 60 years, and he survives.
Other survivors include three children, Clifford (Sheila) Hemmert of Wapakoneta, Jill (David) Middleton of Piqua, Steven (Melissa) Hemmert of Milford; eight grandchildren, Joshua (Brittany) Murphy, Taylor (Katie) Hemmert, Lexi (Trevor) Schutte, Katie (Jessie) Bowman, Tori (Mike) Hicks, Cole Middleton, Trenton Hemmert, Cameron Hemmert; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Hampshire Putterbaugh.
Mrs. Hemmert was a 1962 graduate of Piqua Central High School. She retired as a Sales Associate for the former J.W. Brown Store and Uhlman Department Store. Following retirement, she continued her customer service through assisting with the former Tapestry Angel store in Piqua. She loved her family and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in school plays and sporting events. Her favorite trips were to Bronners Christmas Store in Frankenmuth, Michigan. She loved to read, enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles, was a gifted baker and was extremely talented at making beautiful cross stitch, needlepoint, Swedish weaving, and Hardanger embroidery work that continues to decorate the family home. She will be remembered for her love of family, many talents and service to others.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Eric Bowman as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
