COVINGTON - Marion Edward "Ed" Wolfe Jr., age 77 of Covington, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at his home.
Ed was born in Dayton on September 10, 1948, to the (late) Marion Edward Sr. & Glora Lee (Taylor) Wolfe; a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1967; was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War as a Sargeant and was a Bronze Star Medal recipient ; retired as a Veteran's Assistant at Miami County Veteran Services, driving the veterans to their appointments and making sure they received their benefits; he also served at the Preble County Veterans Services, he was an Advocate for all veterans. He also worked at A.O. Smith as a welder and was the Union Representative. Ed was on the Covington Fire Department for 10 years; a charter member of the Covington Eagles Aerie #3998; V.F.W. Post #4235, Covington; AMVETS Post #66, Covington; he attended Covington Church of the Brethren, where he helped his wife, Carolyn with her Trustee position and volunteered where needed; he was passionate about cars, hotrods, and Harley motorcycles and watching NASCAR on TV. Ed loved music, especially Motown, and he enjoyed dancing, the "Ed Shuffle!" He enjoyed chopping down trees and selling firewood; an animal lover, especially his dogs; enjoyed mowing; an avid BUCC Booster member. Some will remember that he played the town Santa for years and did the Christmas light display. He loved working with his children and always had time for them and his grandchildren. Many in the community remember Ed helping neighbors, however he could, he truly was the hands and feet of Jesus! Preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jennie (Whitmer) Wolfe in 1981; niece, Jennifer Wray in 1987; and brother-in-law, James Lichtenfels. Ed is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carolyn Sue (Johnston) Wolfe; his children, Alicia & Rike Miller of Covington, Gary Russell "Rusty" Carder of Covington, Marcella & Randy Hartman of Port Charlotte, FL, Jessica Parker & Michael Kesler of Swanton, OH, Heather Wolfe & Jeremy Ward of Covington; six grandchildren, Jordan Wolfe & his fiancé, Cheyenne Emery, Meredith Wolfe, Brooke Hartman & her fiancée, Efrain Velez, Zachary "Zack" Hartman, Jenna Parker, and Quentin Parker; four great-grandchildren, Maisie, Annabelle, Dixie and River; sister, Sharon & David Wray of Pleasant Hill, sister, Sandy & David Wells of Vandalia, brother, Ben & Pam Wolfe of Covington, sister, LaVena Lichtenfels of Yellow Springs, OH; his dog, Ranger; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service Monday, December 8th at the Covington Church of the Brethren with Pastor Mike Yingst officiating. Interment Highland Cemetery, Covington with Military Honors provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation on Monday at 10:00 AM to 12 Noon when service will begin at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Covington Fire & Rescue, Covington BUCC Boosters, or Covington Church of the Brethren.
