TROY - Marvin J. Buchanan, age 88, of Troy, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Stillwater Skilled Nursing Facility in Covington. He was born in Covington, OH on November 26, 1936, to the late Ralph R. and Dorothy Amelia (Klein) Buchanan.
Marvin is survived by; one daughter: Beth (Dean) Hunter of Troy; two sons: Scott Allen (Tamara Ellis) Buchanan of Troy and Craig J. (Barbara) Buchanan of Unicoi, TN; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Sharon Elaine (Macy) Buchanan; and one brother: Ralph R. Buchanan Jr.
Marvin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Troy and a USAF Veteran. He was a lifetime member at Troy Fish and Game, Redmens, Amvets and Troy Moose where he served as their administrator and achieved the Pilgrim degree. Marvin retired as a postal carrier in Troy after 35 years of service. Marvin was an avid bowler, softball player and coach for many years.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Dr. Frank T. Rupnik III officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy with military honors. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the funeral home. Pilgrim Service by Troy Moose Lodge 2695 at 7:00 PM on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Day City Hospice, 7601 Paragon Rd., Suite 203, Dayton, OH 45459.
