PIQUA - Mary (Pete Mathews) Kiser, 83 of Piqua, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Ayden of Piqua surrounded by her family.
Pete was born on June 9, 1942, in Piqua, Ohio to F. Russell and Dorothy (Speece) Mathews.
She loved fishing and drowning a worm with her grandkids on quiet mornings, traveling to new places, and hunting for treasures in antique shops. A true lover of history, she enjoyed tracing family roots and learning about the past through ancestry research. Her love for animals was lifelong, and she had a special place in her heart for her chickens and horses. She spent many happy hours riding her horses and caring for them over the years. Pete also had a soft spot for flowers, especially the purple ones, her favorite color.
Pete was also the original owner of Uniform's Plus. She proudly outfitted a multitude of 1st responders over the years before semi-retiring.
Pete is survived by her loving husband, Herman James Kiser, daughters, Kimberly Spears, Karol (Wayne) DeLong, Patricia (David) Linde, stepdaughter, Lou Ann Moore, grandchildren, Dustin Johnson, Courtney Johnson, and Reiner Linde.
Pete is preceded in death by her brothers, Leland (Butch) Mathews, Marion (Sam) Mathews; and sister, Barbara (Mathews) Stump. Pete also leaves her dearest friend and caregiver, Ann Johnson, behind. Ann was a mainstay in her last several years of illness.
