TROY -- Richard L. "Dick" Richardson, age 92 of Troy, passed away at 5:47 AM on Friday, August 13, 2021 at his home. He was born on July 23, 1929 in South Bend, IN to the late Robert and Lola (nee Picking) Richardson.
Including his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his loving wife, Geraldine "Gerry" Richardson, who he married on February 15, 1951; three sisters AnnaMae, Phyllis and ShirlaRose and son-in-law Kenneth Neth.
Those left to cherish Dick's memory include his daughter Nancy Neth of Troy; sons Terry (Phyllis) Richardson of Pineville, LA and Robert (Jennifer) Richardson of Tipp City, OH; grandchildren Patrick (Darren), Jill (Sheldon), Stephanie (Bill), Linda (Donnie), Jason (Tricia) and Nicole (Weston), great-grandchildren Kylie, Cole, Cierra, Brianna, Austin, Davyd, Sydney, Kane, Todd, Matt, and Blake, and 2 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including special nephew Jonathan (Carol) Boyd.
Dick was an Army Veteran and served in the Korea Conflict and worked in the US Army Medical Corps as a Paramedic. He graduated from Mishawaka High School and went to University of Kentucky for 2 years. He was a member and past president of Troy Eagles #971, a life member of AmVets Post #88 of Troy, past member of the Tipp City American Legion Post #586, and past member of Troy Fish and Game Club. He was a coach for junior baseball and AJBC junior bowling. He was also an instructor and past president for the junior bowling association of Miami County. Dick retired in May of 1983 from Dinner Bell Foods in Troy after 30 years.
A funeral service will be held 10:30AM Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor David Thomasson officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy with military honors by the Veteran's Memorial Honor Guard of Troy. Visitation will be held Friday, August 20 from 4:00PM-6:45PM with an Eagles service at 6:45PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ohio's Hospice of Miami County, PO Box 502, Troy, OH 45373. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
