PIQUA -- Richard O. "Dick" Staley, 97, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 1:15 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Ayden Health Care Center. He was born September 29, 1924 in Piqua to the late Oscar and Helen (O'Shaughnessy) Staley. He married Lois I. Hecker October 26, 1944 at St. Boniface Catholic Church; she preceded him in death November 17, 2020.
Survivors include two children, Carol Ann (Gene) Huff, David (Dianna) Staley all of Piqua; a son-in-law, Mike Heiser of Piqua; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and eleven great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters and his daughter, Kathleen S. Heiser.
Mr. Staley attended Piqua Catholic Schools. He retired as an accomplished Truck Driver for many years. Additionally, he drove taxicabs. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards and loved to fish. He will be missed by his loving family and many friends.
A private service for all his family to honor his life will take place on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name are encouraged to Day City Hospice, 8039 Washington Village Dr., Suite 110, Dayton, OH 45458.
