TROY - Thomas Howard "Tom" Block, Sr. age 76 of Troy, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. He was born March 12, 1949, in Prescott, AR to the late Robert Block, Sr. and Queen Ester (Latin) Block.
Tom was preceded in death by his brothers Chuck and Robert Block, as well as sisters Estelle Tidwell and Gladys Block.
Those left to cherish Tom's memory include his children Thomas Block, Jr. of Troy, Reginald "Reggie" Block of Troy, Wayland Block of Troy, Kendrick Block of Troy, Anson Block of Troy, and Queen Trishawnna Block of Troy; sisters Carolyn Bozman, Maybelle Samuels, and Opal Hall, brothers Dan, Ricky, Freddie, and Kenneth Block ; 45 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; his ex-wife Claudia Block of Troy, whom he was married to for 40 years. He also leaves to cherish his memory numerous nieces and nephews and extended family who will miss him dearly.
Tom was a 1968 graduate of Prescott High School in Prescott, AR and a member of Zion Baptist Church in Troy. Tom took pride in his landscaping skills and was an avid gardener. He was president of the former PTS in Miami County. He retired with KTH in St. Paris where he worked for several years as a supervisor and trainer.
A funeral service will be held 1:00PM Monday September 15, 2025, at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Frank Adkins officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00AM-1:00PM prior to the service. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.fishercheneyfuneralhome.com.
