PIQUA - Vincent M. Staley, 71, of Piqua, passed away suddenly at 4:19 p.m. Wednesday April 14, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born May 23, 1949 in Piqua to the late Robert S. and Catherine Pauline (Jessup) Staley. He married Betty Lee Stein September 24, 1982 in Piqua; she preceded him in death May 26, 2012.
Survivors include three children, Melody (Brian) Small of Vandalia, Brian Zimmerman of Troy, Angie (Jason Ary) Hare of Piqua; two sons-in-law, Gail Eppley of Sidney, Chip (Amber) Hare of Piqua; eight grandchildren, Wes Eppley, Aric Eppley, Abigail Richards, Mason Schneider, Tucker Schneider, Landon Hare, Stephanie Recker, Brandon Zimmerman; three great grandchildren; and eleven siblings, Alice (Joe) Fuller of Florida, John (Emma) Staley of Everett, Washington, Thomas (Dale) Staley of Celina, Sharon (Cliff) Dear of Tipp City, Bernard R. Staley of Piqua, Stephen (Connie Clemens) Staley of Piqua, James "Doc" Staley of Piqua, Ann (Wendel) Dear of Troy, Linda (Wayne) Eldridge of Vandalia; Joseph (Teri) Staley of Piqua, Rebecca (Jeff Mowery) Staley of Piqua. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Zimmerman.
Mr. Staley was a 1967 graduate of Piqua Catholic High School and worked for over forty-five years at various Departments with the City of Piqua and currently with the Power Plant. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Covington Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He enjoyed attending Flea Markets and grandchildren's events with his wife, Betty. He was an avid Notre Dame fan, and enjoyed maintaining his daily presence at the Waffle House Morning Club.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a. m. Wednesday April 21, 2021 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Daniel P. Hunt as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church, 310 S. Downing St., Piqua, OH 45356 or Hospice of Miami County, Inc., P. O. Box 502, Troy, OH 45373. Vincent was a friend dating from First Grade with Sister Josepha at St Boniface to Piqua Catholic High. While our paths have not crossed in many years, 54 to be exact, I have thought of him often and extend my condolences to his family...I am sorry for your loss.
