PIQUA — Vivian I. Grimes, 93, of Piqua, passed away at 9:24 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Dorothy Love Retirement Community.
She was born April 20, 1927 in Rockmart, Georgia to the late Ambrose Jackson and Ione Pearl (Robinson) Brown Sr.
She married James C. Grimes Jr. on March 16, 1946 in Cedartown, Georgia; he preceded her in death December 13, 1984.
Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Kenneth J. (Linda) Grimes of Piqua; and a sister, Iris Glennelle (Ralph Lee) Harris of Douglasville, Georgia. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ambrose (Clarice) Brown Jr., Matthew Clark Brown, Clyde Norman (Mary Jeanette) Brown, Franklin Delano Brown; and a sister, Katherine Pearl (Joe Will) Brooke.
Mrs. Grimes was a 1945 graduate of Rockmart High School and worked for the Orr Felt Company from 1955 to 1977, working her way up to being the Assistant Plant Manager. She then worked for Allen A Company as quality control and scheduling manager, and retired in 1986.
She was a 55 year member of the Piqua Baptist Church and longtime member of the YWCA Piqua. Vivian was always a hard worker and had various part time jobs even after retiring. She loved to travel and had been to Alaska twice, Hawaii, Mexico, and most if not all the 50 states.
She and her husband travelled in their RV extensively. Vivian will surely be missed by her family and friends.
