PIQUA — Wandalene Shawler, 91, of Piqua, died at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 2, 1926, in Prairie Hill, Oklahoma, to the late William and Willie Iva (Stephens) Evans. She married Richard M. Shawler Jan. 26, 1980, in Piqua, a union that would span 38 years, and he survives.
Other survivors include a son, James (Karen) Schneider of Piqua; four daughters, Francine (Grover) Low of Vandalia, Patricia (Gary) Carboni of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Kathleen (Thomas) Hanson of Chillicothe; Ann (Lois) Shawler of Boston, Massachusetts; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Schneider of Summerset, Kentucky; 19 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Evans; three sisters; Lois Couchot, Juanita Adams, Wynona Crank; and her son, George William Schneider.
Mrs. Shawler was a 1944 graduate of Olustee High School and a past member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. She worked for many years as a key punch operator for Hartzell and a seamstress for the Atlas Underwear Company. She was a wonderful homemaker, mother and grandmother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas L. Bolte as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Monday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home ,where a prayer service will be held at 4 p.m.
