She was born Sept. 29 1906 in Lake Township, near Pinnebog, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Carpenter) Bushey.
On June 21, 1936, she married Frank A. Gilbert at St. Felix Catholic Church in Pinnebog. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1989.
She graduated from Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit on Oct. 23, 1929. Mrs. Gilbert was a registered nurse at Bad Axe Hubbard Hospital, Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon and the school nurse at Caseville School.
She was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister and friend to many.
Florence is survived by her daughter, RuthAnn (Frank) Goeyvaerts of Woodstock, Ga.; and sons, John (April Lakish) of Traverse City and Gerald (Marge Murphy) of Bay City; grandchildren, Elizabeth Wilson, Frank (Christine) Goeyvaerts, Bridget (Tim) Overcash, Rachael (Fred) Crane, Rebecca Kramer, Jon Gilbert, Kevin (Danielle) Gilbert and Summer Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Sarah, Danny and Timmy Overcash, Frank and Jacob Goeyvaerts, Caelan and Luke Wilson, Travis and Hannah Crane, Whitney Kramer, Adalyn Gilbert and Morgan Ford.
She was preceded in death by her seven sisters and eight brothers.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007 at St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville with Fr. Ken Yaroch presiding. Burial will be in St. Roch Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville and from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass Thursday at the church. There will be a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Condolences may be shared at www.cfcCaseville.com.
