Malcolm Williams Obituary

Malcolm D. Williams
Malcolm David Williams, 97, of Minden City passed away with his family by his side on Friday, February 28, 2025. He was born on March 3, 1927, in St. Johns, Michigan to the late Foster and Hilda Williams.
Malcolm moved to Minden City in the late forties to become a Mint Farmer. He cleared his original 40 acres by hand and then proceeded to build his Farm. Malcolm served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado with a tour that took him to Alaska.
Malcolm married Margaret Jeanne Love on May 27, 1951, in St. Johns, while he was on leave from the Army. They were married for 67 years until Margaret went home to be with the Lord in March of 2019. In the early sixties, he expanded his farming to include both mint and sod farming. His life was one of service to God, Church, and his family. He was an active member of the Minden City Church for over 50 years, an active member of Gideons International for over 45 years serving as the Sanilac County President for a number of years, a Lay Speaker for the Gideons, a member of the Deckerville School Board for over 10 years, and served on the Board of Sanilac ISD for a number of years. Malcolm enjoyed spreading the word of God and participated in over 10 Mission trips to Haiti and Honduras building Churches and Schools. In earlier years he was an avid scuba diver and then at the age of 80 took up Sky Diving which he continued at the age of 90. He also was a long-time member of the Black River Area Antique Power Club and enjoyed driving his Massey Ferguson 35 Tractor in the annual Mackinac Bridge Antique Tractor Crossing. Malcolm and Margaret enjoyed spending the winter months in Arizona with family and friends where Malcolm would ride motorcycles and take side by side trips on mountain trails into his early 90's. Malcolm was an inspiration and mentor to many in the community, Church, and farming world.
Malcolm is survived by his two sons, Brian Williams of Palms, Craig (Jeanne) Williams of Grand Ledge; five grandchildren, Christopher Williams of McMillan, Megan (Brent) Shaw of Snover, Castyn Williams-Brooks (Sam Brooks) of Hastings, Carson Williams of Traverse City, Cole Williams of Tampa, Florida; and one great-grandchild, Calvin Shaw; his brother, Howard (Eleanor) Williams; sister-in-law, Maudy Williams (Myron); numerous nieces and nephews.
Malcolm was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his brother, Myron Williams; his brother-in-law, Lloyd Love; and sisters-in-law, Beth Brewbaker and Eleanor Williams.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Malcolm will be held at a date to be announced at McGregor United Methodist Church, with a Visitation preceding the celebration at Apsey Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to The Gideons at www.gideons.org and condolences may be sent online to apseyfuneralhome.net.
