Michael Martin Guza III
Michael Martin Guza III, known to friends and family as Mikey. Our humble, generous, kind-spirited, and faithful Christian passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the age of 57. Michael was born on October 6, 1967, in Dearborn, Michigan to Michael Jr and Patricia (Jones) Guza. Mikey was the beloved seventh child in a bustling family of eight, growing up surrounded by his seven sisters.
Mikey was a proud graduate of Michigan State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He also became a PGA Professional through Ferris State University, a career that would bring him joy and fulfillment for more than two decades. His passion for golf blossomed when he met the love of his life, Holly Roth, in 2008 while she played at Scenic Golf & Country Club, where he was working at the time. Their engagement at Navy Pier in Chicago in 2009 was a beautiful beginning, culminating in their wedding at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bay City on November 26, 2010.
Michael dedicated 27 years of his life to the PGA, spending six years at Coldwater Country Club before joining Scenic Golf & Country Club, where he served as a Golf Professional and General Manager of the restaurant for 21 years. He retired just a few short months ago, in November 2024.
Faith was crucial to Michael, and he was a devoted member of Rivers Edge Church in Caseville. He had a generous soul and was always ready to lend a helping hand. When he wasn't working, you could find him passionately cheering for Michigan State basketball and football teams or embarking on his next travel adventure. One of his favorite recent trips was to Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon with Holly. He was also a proud pet parent to his dog, Sparty, his loyal companion who sadly passed away in January 2024.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Holly Guza; mother, Patricia Guza; sisters and brothers-in-law, Susna (Bob) Peddicord, Theresa (Dino) Pizzino, Mary (Dale) Buckner, Tami (Neil) Healy, Connie (Jim) Kozma, Stacey (Brian) Abbott; brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Kelli (Martek) Roth, Louis and Diane Roth and Karen Roth; several nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Michael Guza Jr.; sister, Janet (Guza) Bommarito; grandma Jones and grandpa and grandma Guza.
