A fun, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Michael was a unique person. To all those who knew him or met him, knew something special has passed by. He always was ready for a good game of golf, dancing, lending a helping hand, or just being around his very close family.
He was a 1962 graduate of Eastern High School, Lansing; 1968 graduate of Lansing Community College; 1972 graduate of Oldsmobile division of General Motors Tool Maker program; 1990 graduate of University of Oklahoma Nursing Home Administrator program; 1991 graduate of Southern Nazarene University with a degree in Human Recourses. Michael was a tool maker for 30 years with General Motors of Lansing and Oklahoma City, Okla. Owned Med Serv Home Health Care of Norman, Okla. and Orin's Pizza of Norman, Okla.
Michael is survived by his wife of 37 years, Merrily McGuirk Kirchen of Georgetown, formerly of Bad Axe; daughters, Heather and Barry Long of Oklahoma City, Okla., Patricia and Hassan Sleiman of Howell, Bridget Tolson of Manchester, N.H.; sons, Michael R. Kirchen, Jr. of Aurora, Colo., Jon and Heather Kirchen of Moore, Okla.; sisters, Karalynne and Ron Schram of Nevada, Jamie and Bob Richard of Florida, Michaele and Dale Hart of Georgetown, Texas, JoAnn Kussmual of Michigan, Bonnie and Leonard Williams of Michigan. He also is survived by six loving grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew, Emily, Hagan, Nicholas and Christopher; as well as many nieces ad nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Otto Kirchen and Thea "Toni" Rule Miller; and one step-son, James Morrison Morley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17 at the Cook-Walden-Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas with the Rev. Al A. Cummins officiating. The family will receive friends at the Cook-Walden-Davis Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Interment to take place at a later date in Michigan.
Memorials may be given to Angel Flight or American Lung Association, in lieu of flowers.
