This popped up in my email since I had written previously on here. When I lost my fiance too soon, I loved hearing stories about him that I didn’t know. I’m sure I’ve shared the funny and entertaining one where many of us from the hospital met up at Sam’s for a party she she cleaned up the spilt vodka with bread slices haha. But Sam meant a lot to me when we moved 4 West to 4 North and I felt a bit like an outsider still for some reason as my shyness can get the best of me. She asked me for my Facebook and started interacting with me and inviting me out. She gave me hugely helpful advice about what I could do with my Human Biology degree instead of being a doctor as originally intended. I think of her often as just a kind soul who looked out for others no matter who they were. It’s almost like she could see I felt left out and went out of her way to include me and help give me a friend group. She was selfless, sweet, hilarious, kind, beautiful inside and out, and compassionate. She’s still very missed ❤ my heart goes out to her family and husband.

Since your beautiful bride and daughter's Memoriam was featured on the PBS NewsHour in June I have not been able to stop thinking of Samantha and her touching life story, her legacy. A truly amazing and lovely soul. Please know that even though I did not know Samantha she has made an impact on others. A true inspiration!

I had Samantha in kindergarten and enjoyed her little antics. She was a sweet child. A few years ago I ran into her and learned of her battles with cancer, going to college to get her degree while working and undergoing chemo. What determination and stamina! May your fond memories of her comfort you at this time. My deepest sympathy.

What I know about Samantha is only what Markus and his Mom and sisters have told me. Markus is my grandson and when I first heard they were getting married I worried that they were rushing into it given the time they knew each other and Sam's medical problems. I was unable to attend their wedding in Nashville as I was unable to travel due to a medical condition of my own but when I saw the photos there was no mistaking the love between them. Sam completed Markus, I never saw the pure love and happiness between two people like they had. My granddaughters Danielle and Heather adored her, as did Markus' mother Martha, and I was so looking forward to meeting her this summer. It is obvious that she touched everyone who came into her circle and I can't imagine how much she is going to be missed. My heart breaks for all of you who knew and loved Sam, for my grandson and for her parents who have lost their only child. Sam has left an awful lot of wonderful memories for you all to cherish, and given her nature, I am sure she will watch over each and everyone of you that were blessed to have known her. Rest peacefully Samantha.

I worked with her mom at Kmart when Sammy was little. Her mom would sometimes bring her to work and wheel her around the store as she worked.
I didnt know her well but she always had a smile on her face.
Prayers and hugs to the family.

I had the pleasure of working with Sam on 4 west. One fun memory I have of Sam- she was staying in the hospital and admitted on another floor. She had left our unit about a year prior so we had a lot of new staff at the time. Sam walked into the (locked) break room in the middle of the night wearing a hospital gown saying Im lost! The staff that didnt know Sam had no idea what to do, while everyone who knew her was cracking up!!! Sam had such a fun carefree spirit! I pray for everyone whose lives have been affected by Sam, she will be greatly missed!

Sam, you are truly gonna be the Brightest Star in Heaven, seen in the night sky. I feel so blessed to be in your life, even for a short time. You were a very important part of our family, and especially James. We just loved you so much and knew the sacrifices you made in your life to follow your dream, helping others.
God must have needed you more in Heaven. You gave so selflessly to others. I pray for your Husband and Parents, all of your family and friend. Thankyou for being on the front lines too. Love you Beautiful lady. Marlene Meinhard

I worked with Sam on 2E MOU (I moved to MS last July to work at the VA in Biloxi, MS). I remember her first day it was very rough because She was too sweet. It was always a pleasure working with Sam and luckily I got to because we were on the same weekends. Sam always had a smile and was ALWAYS upbeat. I loved that about her. We loved talking about motorcycles and how her dad was going to get her one. It was my great pleasure having met and worked with Sam. Rest In Peace my friend.

I knew the moment I met Sammy she was sent to us from God. Her and Markus were soulmates. Every time I was around her she was loving, kind and so tender with him. She had a glow about her that lit the room. She was a genuine and loving soul who made me feel so blessed to have known her. She was truly an angel on earth and I loved her for that. I'm deeply sorry for your loss sending my heartfelt condolences. I am praying you can find peace during this terribly difficult time.
