Shirley M. Dorland

1925 - 2017

Shirley M. Dorland, 92, of Port Hope, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Lakeview Extended Care and Rehab Center of the Harbor Beach Community Hospital. She was born on Feb. 6, 1925, in Detroit to the late Donald and Emma (Zeigler) Wesley. She and Don Dorland were united in marriage. He preceded her in death in 2002. Shirley was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she was very active, participating in the church choir and the Lutheran Ladies Aide. She was a member of the Port Hope Women's Club, was secretary of the Port Hope Chamber of Commerce for many years, member of the Home Makers Club, secretary of the sewing circle and was president of the pinochle club. She is survived by her sister Helen Lenker of Ferndale, and a brother Jack Wesley of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Funeral Services for Shirley will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Port Hope, with Rev. David Dodge officiating. Burial will follow in Marquardt Cemetery. Visitation for Shirley will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church until time of services. Memorials can be given to the St. John Missionary Fund. Memories can be shared at www.RamseyFH.com
