Stephen Shaw Obituary
Stephen Dale Shaw
Stephen Dale Shaw, 68, passed away peacefully in his home on February 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous journey with cancer. Born on July 16, 1957, in Marlette, Michigan, Steve was the son of the late Allan and Doris Shaw. A graduate of Marlette High School's Class of 1975, he devoted his life to farming, working alongside his parents and brothers, Ron, Scott, and Les in the family operation, Allan K Shaw Inc. As the years went on, his brothers phased out of the business and his son, Mark joined him-an experience that brought Steve immense pride and joy. His deep love for the land and dedication to family farming defined much of his life's work. On July 15, 1978, Steve married his high school sweetheart, Sheryl Guc. Together they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and mutual support. They raised three wonderful children on the family farm they cherished. Steve and Sheryl taught their children the value of working hard, caring for one another, and treasuring family above all else. As their children grew, their marriages to the "outlaws"-Holly, Jason, and Megan, as they were lovingly called-added even more joy to the family. Steve was especially proud of his six grandchildren, who brought excitement, laughter, and light to his days.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 47+ years, Sheryl; his children, Mark (Holly) Shaw, Lisa (Jason) Miller, and Brent (Megan) Shaw; and his treasured grandchildren, David and Drew Shaw, Tyler, Seth, and Callie Miller, and Calvin Shaw. He is also survived by his brothers; sisters-in-law; and brothers-in-law, Ronald (Ruth) Shaw, Henrietta Shaw, Leslie (Cheryl) Shaw, Kent (Jackie) Shaw, Susan (Alan Sager) Guc, Sheila Fritz, Jack (Chris) Guc, Sandy (Randy) Kelley, and Jamie (Caren) Guc; along with many special nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Doris Shaw; his brother, Scott Shaw; his father and mother-in-law, John and Ruth Guc; and his brother-in-law, Kim Fritz.
Steve will be remembered for his devotion to family and friends, his unwavering work ethic, and the quiet, steady love he poured into everything he did. He was blessed getting up each day to do what he loved, which was farming. He enjoyed the beauty of many sunrises and sunsets. God was good in Steve's life, and he was front and center at the end of it.
Rest well, Steve. Rest well.
