Ann Russo Obituary

Ann Russo
11/22/2025
Ann Pantano Russo, 89, of Middletown, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness on November 22, 2025, at Apple Rehab, surrounded by her family. Ann was born in Middletown on December 9, 1935, to Joseph and Helen (Garofalo) Pantano.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Philip Pantano and Joseph Pantano Jr. Ann leaves her daughter, Debra Haddad, and son-in-law, Louis; her granddaughters, Jennifer Blake and her fiancé, Brian Mazurek, of Southington, and Alison Knizek and her husband, Alex of Middletown; and her great-granddaughters, Sadie and Aeliana Mazurek. She also leaves her brothers, Sebastian Pantano and his wife, Sandra, and Thomas Pantano; her sisters-in-law, Vittoria Pantano and Joan Russo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ann graduated from Middletown High School in 1955. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a secretary for St. Sebastian School and Church for 30 years. Before that, she owned and operated Quality Cleaners until closing the business in 1977. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Sebastian Church and a member of the St. Teresa Guild.
Ann had a profound love for helping others, which was evident in her many years of volunteer service at Middlesex Hospital's pastoral care program. She provided compassionate support to patients and their families at the hospice unit and visited individuals in their homes and in nursing facilities.
Ann's family would like to thank the nurses, aides, and staff of Apple Rehab Middletown for the warm and compassionate care given to her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on December 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Sebastian Church in Middletown. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown.

Hello Debbie,
I remember your dear mom well. When St. Seb's first got computers in the office, your poor mother had to struggle through .. she'd call me for help sometimes. I remember once she called in a panic saying "I just did something and the whole screen went black and I lost the whole bulletin!" She quickly learned the "Ctrl-Z" command after that, and little by little she got through those first weeks of difficulties and became a champ. I'll remember her sweet disposition, gentle nature, ready assistance at anything the Church needed, and her kindness to me and all the Church visitors even if they weren't very kind when they came in the door. You were blessed to have her; we all were. A beautiful soul whom God is surely glad to have 'back home'. It's so hard losing a mother .. I believe she'll be with you though.
