Daniel Cudgma Obituary
Daniel R. Cudgma, 82, of Middletown, husband of the late Virginia (LaFave) Pettiross-Cudgma, died Saturday, December 15, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on December 11, 1936 in New Haven, the son of the late Andrew Daniel and Edna (LaCroix) Cudgma. Dan served with the US Navy from 1955 – 1959. After serving in the US Navy, Dan started his career as an operating engineer for Bradley and Upson Construction before going off on his own as an owner/operator for DJ King trucking in Branford, CT where he resided before moving to Middletown. It was in Middletown, on Crystal Lake, where he enjoyed a great group of neighbors. He especially loved his Holiday trips and special gatherings with his sister and brothers-in-law Dotti and Wayne Belmer and Joanne and Tom Costello. He is survived by his son, Daniel R. Cudgma and his wife Colleen of MA; stepson, Paul Wonsek of Atlanta, GA, as well as his grandchildren Daniel III, McKenna, and Maeve Cudgma. He was predeceased by his son Richard and sister Carol Sabo. His Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday, December 20th at 11 a.m. at St. John's Church, 161 Main St., Old Saybrook, CT. We learned recently in Florida where we used to camp and met Daniel an Jennie that Daniel passed away not long after Jennie. This made us real sad.
