DiRisio, Dr. Matthew J. Ed.D Obituary
He was born Feb. 19, 1941.
He was predeceased by his parents, Matthew and Antoinette.
Matt is survived by wife, Patricia DiRisio (Corona); son, Matthew L. DiRisio; brother, Lawrence P. (Leslie) DiRisio; father-in-law, Bernard Corona; brother-in-law, Marshall (Irene) Corona; nieces, Carly (Michael) Brown, Keating DiRisio, Michele Corona and Katherine Mann; nephews, Jordan DiRisio, Michael (Beth) Corona and Frank Mann; and several DiRisio, Bartolotta, Tiberio and Corona nieces, nephews and cousins.
Matt was a star athlete at Fairport High School, earning several local, county and state honors. After completing his undergraduate degree in education at the State University of New York at Brockport, Matt taught English and history for several years at Berger Junior High School in Rush Henrietta, where he ultimately became the school's vice principal. He went on to serve as the principal of both Onondaga Central High School and Churchville-Chili Central High School, during which time he also completed his doctorate in educational administration at the University of Rochester. He then served as the superintendent of schools for the Lyons Central School District, Locust Valley Central School District and Gananda Central School District. In retirement, Matt continued to act as a consultant to school administrators and boards of education, and served as the president of the Board of Education of the Fairport Central School District. Matt's passions included learning, sports, reading, running and, most importantly, his family and friends. His life was rich, and his impact on all he touched profound. He will be celebrated and missed daily.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 11:15 at Assumption Church, Fairport, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Dr. Matthew J.
