Duane Hendrickson

HENDRICKSON, DUANE J. Duane J. Hendrickson, 76, recently of West Milford, NJ and Jupiter, FL, husband of Sandra (Johnson) Hendrickson, died Friday at home. Duane was born June 3, 1937 in Alburg, VT, the son of Wilbur Hendrickson and Eva (Langlois) Kurek. He graduated from Vinal Regional Technical High School in Middletown, CT in 1956, where he was a member of the Radical Valve Timers Club. He served in the Marine Corp from 1956 to 1959. He was a member of the Haddam Volunteer Fire Department from 1969 and served as Chief. Duane graduated from Teikyo Post College in 1985 with a Bachelor Degree in Business Management. He was the Commander of the Saybrook Power Squadron from 1996 to 1998. He was also a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Duane worked for Northeast Utilities from 1968 as a Mechanic until he retired in 1993 as Interplant Maintenance Force Coordinator. He recently retired from the Bluffs Marina in Jupiter, FL. Duane will be remembered most for his big smile and willingness to lend a helping hand, and his awesome mechanical skills. He was an avid boater, embarked on voyages up the Hudson River and through the Lake Champlain Lock System, the Intercoastal Waterway and the Florida Keys and he loved spending time with his beloved family and friends. Duane is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra, his son Duane J. Hendrickson II and his wife Sywia Hendrickson of Littleton, CO, his daughter Tracy Scaglione and her husband Charles Scaglione of West Milford, NJ and their daughters Nicole Scaglione and Monica Scaglione and his great granddaughter Kali Dean Seva Schaublin all of West Milford, NJ. He also leaves behind his brother Claude J Hendrickson of Middletown, CT, his sister Drucilla Jean Hendrickson of Deep River, CT and his aunt Lydia Towne of South Padre Island, TX as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown followed by an 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial with military honors will be held at the State Veterans’ Cemetery.
