BERLEPSCH, ELIZABETH U. Elizabeth U. Berlepsch, former longtime resident of Chester died on November 20, 2014 at Gladeview in Old Saybrook. She was born on February 17, 1933, in Middletown, the daughter of Ethel Agnes Hill Usher and Douglas Roland Usher. She was the widow of Fred Berlepsch and they were inseparatable until the day he died at the very early age of 56. She was a very determined woman and got her drivers license at age 54. She was so very proud of all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. When her granddaughter Brenda Marquis Wilson won a full scholarship for the UCONN Husky women’s basketball program, it was game on!! She so enjoyed travelling to numerous tournaments and final fours in which UCONN always won. UCONN women’s basketball was a lifetime love! She loved to travel and enjoyed the great outdoors fishing and gardening and any other outside activity. Betty touched the hearts of all who knew her. A strong generous loving wife mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and surrogate mother to so many. She welcomed all into her home with open arms (including four legged ones). There were many a gathering at the Berlepsch homestead. She will be deeply missed by all and always remembered for her keen sense of humor, her hearty laugh and the twinkle in her eyes. She is survived by her daughters Sharon Larrow, Donna Berlepsch and her husband Lonnie Randall Wilson, and Ethel Berlepsch; her sons Douglas Roland Berlepsch and his ex wife Sara Rethlake and Frederick W. Berlepsch, Jr.; grandchildren Mike and Joe Berlepsch, Brenda Wilson, Eugene and Robert Marquis and Jennifer Berlepsch Perry. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her son in law Philip Larrow; daughter in law Kathleen Kearns Berlepsch and grandson Kenneth W. Berlepsch. A memorial service will be held on Sunday December 7th at 2pm at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook.
