Irene Battistini Obituary
Irene Battistini of Middletown , passed away peacefully at home on January 7 from a long illness. She was 77 and lived a full life. Irene was born in 1944 and grew up in Southington with her brothers Joe and Robin. For many years she was a delivery driver for Purolator and later in life transported senior citizens for the town of Cromwell. Irene was a lover of all animals especially dogs and horses. She owned several horses in her life and helped to rescue and place many dogs, making sure they went to good homes. If there was ever an animal in distress, Irene would be the first to stop and help. In addition to the countless dogs Irene found homes for, she also cherished time with her own dogs over the years, including Emma, Loui, Abby, Princess, and most recently... Cooper. Cooper was a constant source of love and companionship through the final years of Irene's life. Irene was predeceased by William Battistini, her beloved husband of 47 years. We want to extend a special thanks to Irene's neighbor Lisa who cared for Irene and enabled her to live at home during her illness. There will be a private service celebrating Irene's life. Memorial donations can be made in Irene's name to the animal charity of your choice. The Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High St., Middletown is in charge of arrangements.

Irene was a sweet woman and a lover of animals. I will miss seeing her at the Cat Tales fundraisers. She was a friend to us at the Animal Control office. If help is needed with Cooper, we are more than willing to assist. Rest peacefully Irene.

Irene was a border at the Her-Del Stables for a long time. Her loving care of both horses and dogs was spectacular. Later in years she would bring her dogs over to walk through the trails behind the farm. She and Bill were constant visitors throughout the years...RIP Irene.
