James Runyon Obituary
James Gilford Runyon, 66, of Middletown, passed away on November 29, 2023, at home unexpectedly after a brief illness. He was born October 1, 1957, in Hartford, CT to Gilford James Runyon and Henrietta Sigismund Runyon.
He graduated from Hartford's Bulkeley High School class of 1975 and went on to attend Paul Smith's College, obtaining a degree in Forestry. Following college, he worked on van conversions for many years at East Coast Van in Newington. He changed his career after he developed a passion for wines, becoming the Wine Manager at Amity Wine & Spirits in New Haven. After retirement, Jimmy enjoyed his gardens and yard plants. He'd start his cherry tomato plants right after each new year and ensured he had a great harvest for winter enjoyment. He also had a passion for his BMW and Harley bikes. As he resided in Middletown, he was a frequent customer at the old Red Dog Saloon and would share his many memories from there. He'd also take day trips to Arnold's in Eastham, MA for hot buttered lobster rolls that he'd bring back to enjoy with friends. Jimmy, you had a good ride, rest in peace.
Jimmy was predeceased by his brother Robert J. Runyon. He leaves his sister Ann Marie and her husband William Halibozek of Cromwell, CT, nephew Bryan Runyon and his wife Colleen of Powder Springs, GA, nephew Bret Halibozek and fiancée Allyson Taylor of Bryn Mawr, PA, grandnephew Stewart James Runyon and grandniece Rachel Lin Silver.
Private services will be held.

Jim was a great neighbor, he was a quiet man who kept to himself however he alerted us that our house was blowing black smoke out of the chimney and saved our lives in 2018. He will be missed.
