John "Jack" Hickey

Hickey, John “Jack” John “Jack” Hickey, 86, formerly of Maple Ave. in Old Saybrook and East Street in Middletown, husband of the late Barbara Jean (Hunt) Hickey, died Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Apple Rehabilitation Center, Plainville. He was born in Middletown, the son of the late John J. and Sarah J. (Fitzgerald) Hickey. Jack was a veteran of World War II and Korea serving with the U.S. Navy. After his time in the Navy, he graduated from Hillyard Business School. He was then employed for 42 years with Fox Press Inc. retiring as the assistant treasurer. Jack is survived by two daughters, Katherine Swanson and her husband Darin of Plainville and Donna St. Amand and her husband William of Cromwell; sister, Marie Kimball and her husband Donald Parker Kimball; four grandchildren, John Nunes and his wife Laurie Marshall-Nunes, Samantha Nunes, Joel St. Amand, and Kelly St. Amand; and three great grandchildren, Jason Nunes, Keith Nunes and Logan Nunes and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, James Hickey. The Funeral Liturgy will be held Saturday (Feb. 1st) at 10 a.m. at St. John Church, Middletown. Burial will be held in Indian Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., prior to the funeral service.
