When you meet a person for a short segment of your life (during Marist College) and for the next 35 years when the name “The Chief” is brought up in conversions it is only with the upmost respect for your father, I can only say that I have truly met a great person. He served a life of helping others and had a standard of integrity and strength of character that was second to none.
With warm regards

I have known Jack Riordan for practically my whole life, and both Mike and I are very sorry to learn of his passing. There will be another empty spot on the Riordan front porch this summer. Mr. Riordan was always ready with a wave and a smile. Growing up, I had so many happy times on the porch with the Riordan family. Those are memories that I will cherish always.

My family grew up next door to the Riordan family; Mr. (Jack) and Mrs. (Anne) featured large in our lives, as did all their children (and Nor, of course!). Dear Kathy, Anne, Chip, John, and Tim, I am sorry about your dad's death, and your mom's not too long ago too. Love to you all.

To the family of Jack Riordan"
My heart, thoughts and prayers are with you over the passing of "Chief Riordan". Jack's service to his community and the fire service was exemplary. He was such an unassuming, kind gentleman. As a good friend of my Grandfather's we spent a great deal of time in his company and it was always a delight.

Jack was indeed a most avid supporter of the CT Fire Prevention Poster Contest. His dedication gave the program the impetus necessary to reach out to young people and ingrain a message never to be forgotten - Fire Prevention - Everyone, Everyday. We are so sorry to hear of his passing. The CT FAIR Plan remains determined that his message will live on through the many contests to come.
