JOSEPH GAROFALO Obituary

GAROFALO, JOSEPH Joseph Garofalo, 81 of Middletown, CT, beloved husband of Maria (Mazzotta) Garofalo passed away peacefully on Friday, January 20th, surrounded by his family. He was the son of Salvatore and Concetta (Morello) Garofalo of Melilli, (Sicily) Italy. He is survived by his wife, Maria and four children, Salvatore, Anthony and Mark , all of Middletown and Loriann (Garofalo) Hock and her husband Steven of Cromwell. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Anthony Garofalo Jr., and Nicholas, Alexandria and Vanessa Hock. He is also survived by his siblings, Rosa Misenti of Florida, Anna and husband Sebastian Calvo of Middletown, Maria Milardo of Middletown and Sebastian Garofalo (partner Patricia Savastra) of Cromwell. He was predeceased by his sisters Sebastiana (Nella) Garofalo and Vincenza (Garofalo) Cannata. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joseph was a life-long member of St. Sebastian Church and the Italian Society of Middletown. He was employed by MA&M Contractors for over 45 years. Funeral services will be held at D’Angelo Funeral Home at 22 South Main Street in Middletown at 9:00am on Thursday, January 26th, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Sebastian Church, 155 Washington Street in Middletown. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 4-7pm on Wednesday, January 25th at D’Angelo Funeral Home. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Middlesex Healthcare Center in Middletown. “Joe” or “Pippo” as he was known, was a true family man and extremely hard working individual who always placed family and responsibility first and foremost, and will be deeply missed by his many family and friends.
