Judith Camp Obituary
Judith "Judy" Camp died peacefully the 19th of November, 2022. Born in New Haven, CT to Jack and Mary (Beirne) Cummings on February 16, 1933. Judy attended St. Mary's High School and State Teachers College in New Haven. After college, she successfully completed the Marine Corps. Women's Officer Training Class, where she was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. Reserves. Judy went on to a lengthy career in teaching starting in West Haven before settling in to her dream job in Durham, CT, where she taught 3rd grade at Brewster and Korn Schools. Judy was a compassionate and loving person dedicated to her family and friends. With a wonderful sense of humor, beautiful smile, sparkling eyes and quick wit, her mission in life was to truly share this love and make a meaningful difference in every person she encountered. She spent many nights in the gym cheering for her favorite team and was part of the original Benchwarmers for her local high school. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Walter (Coach) Camp, daughter, Jeanne and son, Michael. Leaving behind many cousins, nieces and countless friends from the town she loved so much. Her Funeral Liturgy will be held Wednesday (Nov. 23rd) at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church, Main St., Durham. Burial will be n Mica Hill Cemetery, Durham. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday (Nov. 22nd) from 4 to 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Benchwarmers, c/o Dr. William Lema, Treasurer, 322 Blue Hills Rd., Durham, CT 06422 or to Our Lady of Mercy Parish, 272 Main St., Durham, CT 06422. So sorry to hear of Judy's passing. I was a student of hers at noble school way back in the 50s. She was my first childhood crush! later in life I knew her through wally and frank camp. A wonderful lady

Mrs. Camp was my third grade teacher waaaaay back in 85-86. Despite the years we stayed in touch annually. To say she was my favorite was an understatement. She gave so much to us all. Rest in Peace and thank you for EVERYTHING. You will be greatly missed.

Our Aunt Judy what a pillar of strength!! Who would lose their whole family and keep pressing on in life and live it with a smile.. don’t know too many but you did just that! Amazing! I have fond memories of Mrs. Camp as my third grade teacher. She was my favorite teacher. When I graduated high school she sent me a card with a picture of herself dressed as a graduate from our Halloween parade that year holding a sign that said class of 1997. What a special gift that she remembered me all those years later! Rest in peace Mrs. Camp!

Judy was a special lady. As a member of the “coffee club,” she always had a smile and her humor gave us some great chuckles. Judy had a way of making one feel special. I was always “the kid” to her. Thank you for being in my life. You will be missed.

Judy was one of the nicest people I ever knew. Both she and Coach impacted the lives of many. She always had a smile, never too busy to listen and always offered to help. She was a selfless person, giving the credit to others. She always took the time to write a note in the Christmas cards we exchanged, personal and caring. She will be greatly missed.

Judy is such a beautiful person. I cannot imagine the heartache she endured losing her family and having the fortitude to continue in life. Coach and Judy had a powerful impact on so many kids, mine included.
