I recall how Mr Bascetti was kind enough to allow me to produce and extra credit project to bring my Latin II grade up to passing since I cut his class short every day my senior year to run the lunch room milk cart. Louis was a very caring teacher & individual.

My favorite teacher, I have thought of him often over the years. Everything he did, he did with dignity and class, but not without a sense of humor. I miss him.

Such a great teacher at Morgan High in Clinton CT. He was the master mind behind a 1983 trip to Italy. I will never forget the trip and was always thankful that he but it together for us students. My thoughts are with his family.

Mr. Bascetta was one of my favorite teachers at Morgan, Clinton, CT, even though it was very tough to get French into my brain. The only phrase that I remember in French was, " Ferme La Bouch!" Even So, I will remember Mr. Bascetta with respect for trying!

My family often recalls Mr. Bascetta as we speak of our formative years at Morgan. Veni, Vidi, vici will remain in my mind, in his voice. He was a dedicated teacher and a wonderful person. My Dad enjoyed working in the school system with him and will be sad to hear of his passing. Deepest sympathies and condolences from the Stannard family

Mr. Bascetta was both my Latin and French teacher from 1959 - 1963 at Morgan. A fine man, a fine scholar, a exceptional teacher. I learned so much from him ... and he was one of several positive role models who inspired me to teach. I recall he taught us that one of the best books we could read in our spare time was a good dictionary! He was right. Thanks, Mr. Bascetta. It was an honor.

Dear Bascetta Family -
We are sorry to hear of your loss. We will choose to remember Mr. Bascetta with a smile on his face, for his kindness, generousity and energy. If it were not for him we may never have had the opportunity to meet our family in Rome. We attended three trips to Italy under his guidance. Mr Bascetta was a wonderful man and we are so fortunate to have had him for a teacher. He enriched our lives & can imagine how he enriched yours. Our thoughts and prayers are with you today. My thoughts are with everyone who was touched by Mr. Bascetta. I taught with Lou for many years and I remember him fondly...his passion for all things Italian and Latin....French too...not so much for Spanish. I learned a lot from Lou....wow, such a lot of memories stirred up now. Rest in peace, sweet man.

I Thought of Mr. Bascetta as a Professor of Diligence and Strong Character. I was a fair Latin Student, but a poor French student. He was a good neighbor on Glenwood Rd.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Mr. Bascetta. I graduated from The Morgan School in 1982 and have such fond memories as a Latin student in his class. His class was always interesting and fun. He was a wonderful teacher who truly cared about his students.

Mr. Bascetta had both of my sisters in his class, thought they were wonderful...he wondered why, even though I had Italian in my family, I still didn't get it! He had a lot of patience with me. Sorry for your loss.

May 16, 2013

I was never a great Latin student...though Mr. Bascetta was the best Latin teacher... what I remember was his passion for learning, the love of laugh, if I'm ever at the top of a mountain and lost, I'd better know the basics of Latin to communicate. I teach every day... the root words of Latin... but I hope to pass on a bit of the passion for teaching and living that he gave me. Thank you for living a great life.

He was a great teacher, I can still hear his voice in my head. Sadly, the Latin class was dropped from the curriculum and I remember how upset Mr B was. Rest in Peace,

Mr. Bascetta was one of my all time favorite teachers. I was in his class nearly 40 years ago and I still remember the things he taught me, not only about French, but about being a good person. I hope I am half the teacher he was!
