Louis Haydon Obituary

Louis A. Haydon
Louis Anthony "Lou" Haydon left this world, surrounded by his family, at the John Levitow Health Care Center in Rocky Hill, CT. Lou served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II as a Seaman Second Class from June 1943 until he was honorably discharged in March 1946. He earned the American Theatre Medal, the Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Medal and the European Theatre Medal. He provided for his family; first, a career with Supermarket Distributors and then Hartz Mountain Company until his retirement. He enjoyed many years in Florida with the love of his life, Marguerite (Barry) Haydon. Lou was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite "Peggy", his son, Bob, his seven siblings, Helen (Butler), Sophie, Mary, Stanley, Frank, Eddie and John, and his parents, Mary (Kurcz) and Jan Hajdon. He is survived by his loving daughter Debbie Sullivan; granddaughter, Robyn Sullivan; grandson, Barry Sullivan and his wife, Ratchaneekorn; great-grandchildren, Brady, Haydon and Abigail Sullivan. Lou was described by many who knew him, including his family, as the kindest, most thoughtful, and sweetest individual to walk this earth. He had celebrated his 100th birthday this August and all his friends that live at the VA were in attendance, as well as his entire family. Thank you to the people at Greystone Retirement Home, where Lou lived prior to the VA and thank you isn't enough to say to all the people at the VA Health Care Center for the unbelievable care and love they gave Lou while living there. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held on Friday, December 19th, at 1 p.m. at the State Veterans' Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown. A Wonderful gentleman who served our country so proudly. He had the best family who took such good care of him. He will be missed but resting peacefully after a full life. ❤

Deb, what a deep loss for you my friend and I am so very sorry. It is so hard to lose someone who has been such an important part of your life for so long. I can tell that your dad’s life was made better because of you ,and that he left this world feeling loved. I will keep you in my prayers during this very difficult time.

My deepest sympathies to you Debbie and all your family.

We go back many, many years; from Evevskn Place; Bobby’s MG, but most memorable to me was Blue Meadow Rd where we spent many evenings there as we were a walk down the street apart.

We had great times; great conversations.

When each of us moved away in different directions; there was a frequency of memorable “look backs” to those times. And on those few occasions when traveling back up to CT and getting the chance to say hi, in person; brought those memories into crystal clear clarity.

I enjoyed Lou, your mom and the times we spent together that were not as “kids”; But as the adults we had become.

A great man. I am sad; but happy I had the opportunity to know him at a level beyond just being our friends “dad”.
