My sincere condolences to Max's wife, family and many friends. It was my pleasure to interact with Max as a volunteer for CDOT's highway-rail grade crossing safety program CTOL. Though my hours with Max were not nearly as many as he shared with Rob, et al, I see that Rob voiced Max beautifully well and I might add but one memory. Though Max stoked my interest so long ago, I am still in search of a sighting of his elegant and colorful Wood Duck. Rest in Peace, Max

Max, or I should say Uncle Skip was my childhood hero and mentor in life along with my other hero, his brother Barney. There are not enough words to describe Uncle Skip's knowledge of Nature as well as the Railroad. I remember when young, visiting him in Seymour, Ct. where he had a series of ponds raising endangered species of ducks, or his pet Raccoon . My first pet when I was three, was a crow he brought to me that he had retrieved from a nest. He was man's man, humble, but so strong in all ways. His love for the Railroad was beyond Compare, as was his knowledge of the Rail history of the area . He will be sorely missed, but never ever forgotten. Such a wonderful honor to call him Uncle!

Rosemary - my heart goes out to you and your family. Max was a giant among men. George always said "how would Max do it" or "what would Max think or say." George valued so the history of VRR to Goodspeed Landing and Camp Bethel. Max, George and I were honored to know you.

I am who I am today because of Max. The opportunities and guidance he shared so generously and selflessly have affected me profoundly for decades. I am far from the only recipient of Max's kindness. The measure of a man - how he carries himself and lifts up others. I am forever grateful to this strong, humble man, and his incredible Rosemary. The track ahead is clear and smooth, dear friend. Highball!

Rosemary, Elizabeth and I are so sorry for your loss. We all have many stories we can tell working alongside a true gentleman like Max. I'll leave the stories for others to share. He was a man I respected and looked to for guidance in the affairs of the VRR. Please accept out condolences and prayers for your entire family.

Thank you, Sir, for being a great co-worker, teacher and family friend. Although we didn't see each other often anymore, when we did it was like we'd worked together the week before. Thank you for preserving so much history, and sharing it with us all. And thank you for your Service. Until we meet again....
