Patricia (Patenaude) Nelson, 78, wife of the late David Nelson, Sr. of Waterford, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Bayview Medical Center in Waterford after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Patricia was born May 29, 1934 in Middletown, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (Gladwin) Patenaude.
Patricia was a longtime factory worker, a wonderful wife and mother to her sons. Her favorite line was, "Wait 'til your dad gets home." Before Pat became sick she was an ardent knitter, donating many mittens to the homeless. She was an avid Red Sox fan and loved the music of Neil Diamond.
She is survived by her three sons Daniel, Donald and David and his wife Ruby, and two granddaughters Samantha and Danielle. She is also survived by her longtime friend and companion of 22 years Mervale (Mert) Jones. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Charles Patenaude.
Funeral services will be held at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 3 PM. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, prior to the service from 1 to 3 pm. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 11:30 AM at the State Veteran's Cemetery.
