Paul "Caba" Matterazzo, 81, of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at home, surrounded by his family, after a long illness of Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born on January 5, 1942, to the late Vincent "Jimmy" Matterazzo and Emma Santostefano Matterazzo. Caba worked at Middletown Builders Supply for over 50 years and was best known as the "guy who sands floors". He sanded floors his entire life and took great pride in his work. He loved to talk, tell stories and smoke a good cigar. He talked loudly, had a lot to say, but had a huge heart and was loved by many. He enjoyed going to the casino with his friends, Tommy Pantano and Sebby G. He also enjoyed listening to good music, watching UConn girls' basketball and football. Caba was predeceased by his wife, Eileen Murphy Matterazzo, and his daughter, Kathleen Patterson. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Gary Kral, Jr. He also leaves behind his grandsons, Jay and Sean Kral, Matthew and Kristopher Patterson, and many lifelong friends.
A memorial mass will be at St. Sebastian Church, Middletown, on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at private, at the convenience of the family.

I heard via the local grapevine that Caba had passed. I didn't know when, and couldn't find the obituary. I only met him a couple times. My late husband, Eddie Stankewicz, knew him pretty well. I met Caba when he did our floors. I got to know Eileen through my husband (and Bob's Surplus) as well. She was such a doll. Two really great people. He was a great guy to know and I know his loss is heart-breaking to all who knew and loved him. Paula & family ~ So sorry for the loss of your Dad. You took excellent care of him. I will always remember growing up and spending so much time at the family home.
