Peter Luistro Obituary
March 14, 2023
Peter A. Luistro, 79, passed away on March 14, 2023 at West Hartford Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Middletown on May 18, 1943 to the late Anne (née Rygliszin) and Salvatore Luistro, he was a 14 year Coast Guard veteran, achieving the rank of Lieutenant before leaving the service. Peter spent his professional career flying helicopters in various capacities, with his final flights for HealthNet Aeromedical Services with WV University Hospital. He loved music, reading, and most of all watching TV, especially the UConn women's basketball team.
He is survived by his children, son Marc A Luistro and his wife Cathy of Charles Town, WV; daughter Sharon Luistro of Cromwell; sister Salvatrice "Sally' Petrella and her husband Salvatore of Cromwell; brothers Anthony J. Luistro and his wife Angela of Middletown; John Luistro and his wife Faith of Raleigh, NC; Stephen M Luistro and wife Teresa of Phoenix, AZ. He is predeceased by his first wife, Mary Walker.
A special thank you to all the staff of West Hartford Health and Rehab, especially his night nurse Mabel, for caring for him for the last 2+ years, and all who helped him with his final transition.
As were Peter's wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Monkey's Pack Animal Rescue Inc. or Bandit's Place Rescue Inc.

I remember all the times my family would come to your house. Pretty much every other Sunday. You and I used to go through the garden and visit with the cows. We had plenty of room to play and get into mischief. The neighbor raising mink. I regret not making contact later in life but, I always kept tabs on you.
