Robert Matuszkeiwicz Obituary

Robert P. Matuszkiewicz

A lifelong resident of Middlefield, and longtime employee with DMIABB, Bob was well known and loved touching the lives of many with his gregarious personality and many good deeds. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved turkey hunting with his longtime friend Perry Pratt, or deep sea fishing with his cousin Frank Moskey and his family. Trout fishing with Nancy was his passion and come April 1st, you would find him on the Coginchaug or Farmington rivers, waste deep in water, wearing his waders with his creel strapped over his shoulder with Nancy in tow. Bob is survived by his longtime significant other and love of his life, Nancy Gossman also of Middlefield and his loving family, Amanda Gillooly and her husband Jim III of Durham, Marissa Ricciardi and her husband Alex of Wolcott, Heidi Burrows and her husband Jonathan of ME, Mark Gossman and his wife Kim of TX, grandchildren, James Gillooly IV, Kai Gillooly, Joey Ricciard, Ben Burrows, Abbie Burrows, and Ariana Burrows; sister, Marion "Maija" Bugaj of Rockfall. Bobby's Love for hunting and fishing was very noticeable when the season arrived. Being my neighbor that lived next door while growing up I knew the time was here as Bob had hunting/ fishing equipment spread out in his driveway and on the lawn.We had several trips to the "Seawall"
for Duck &Goose hunting.Bob brought me to "Sears" to pick out my 1st shotgun a 12ga pump Mossberg which we named "Roscoe". Bob was also Best man for my wedding. I had the pleasure of seeing Bob again and meeting Nancy about a year ago. Bobby will certainly be missed.
My prayers go out to all of his current and past families! Love ya Goomer!

I only recently was able to meet Bob. He was always so positive and the nicest person. You could tell the atmosphere of a room would change when he entered. Many times would he make me laugh. The memories are unforgettable, esp. the bobisms, "happy Friday eve"

I got to know Bob the last few years and caught myself thinking on many occasions - if only there were more than people in the world like him. He lived life to its absolute fullest and his positivity was infectious. I will miss him dearly and remember him forever! My sincere condolences to his family and close friends. ❤

To tell you Bob was one of the kindest, warmest people I’ve ever known is an understatement. He remembered every birthday and even the smallest details of people he cared about. He brought in goodies just to show appreciation even if he was unwell. Bob found the silver lining in almost any situation and sang mine and my coworkers praises to anyone who would listen. He found a way to make the people around him laugh when he told his silly stories and ended up leaving with a few more friends than he started with each time. He was a stranger to no one, a friend to everyone, and most importantly an inspiration to all on what kindness actually means.
