Russel Seymour Obituary

Russel W. Seymour
Russel W. Seymour went to be with His Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at his home in Old Town, FL. Russ "Rusty" was the only son of Russell G. and Arliene A. Seymour. He was born on October 31, 1957 in Long Island, NY. The family moved to upstate New York when Russ was very young. He attended New Lebanon Central School from Kindergarten through high school and graduated in 1975.
As a child, Russ loved and spent much of his time in the great outdoors. He loved minibikes, snowmobiles and sports cars. They were some of his favorite pastimes. He was an avid fisherman from an early age and could often be found at nearby ponds or streams with a can of night crawlers. Russ was a big brother and always watched over his little sisters. At the age of 18, Russ joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country for a four year term.
Russ deeply loved his two sons and taught them how to fish, hunt, play football, basketball, and baseball. He taught them how to ride dirt bikes and how to drive. He introduced his children to God and acted as a neighborhood father for those kids who did not have a dad. He enjoyed cooking and helping others. He had a black belt in karate and taught karate to his children and to others. He touched many lives and he was exceedingly proud of his grandson, Christian.
Russ worked for years for Pratt Whitney in Connecticut until he retired. He lived in Old Town, FL with his life partner, Tina Ellison. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #383 where he had served in all leadership positions including commander. Russ is survived by his two sons, Matthew Seymour and Brendon Seymour both of Kingsland, GA and a grandson, Christian Seymour. He is also survived by two sisters, Jacqueline Keough (Dave Jones) of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Valerie Ward of Inglis, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Arliene Seymour. Russ was a Christian who had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. We love you and we will miss you, but we will remember what a great son, partner, brother, father, and grandfather you were. We will see you in Heaven.
A memorial service in his honor will be head at the American Legion Post #383 in Old Town, FL on January 21, 2024. Burial will be held at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at a later date.
