Steven Morda Obituary

Steven Dominick Morda of Middletown, born July 4, 1952, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on February 14, 2013 at Middlesex Hospital Hospice after a valiant 3 ½ year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Steven was born in the Bronx, NY and was the son of the late Yolanda and Matthew Morda. He is survived by his beloved wife Stella Morda, 3 adoring daughters and 2 sons-in-law,; Ms. Christina Morda of Meriden, CT, Stephanie and Jim Andros of Plainville, CT and Jaclyn and Greg Boess of Orlando, FL.

He was a board member of IAABO in NY, RI and CT for 42 years and a member of CCAFO and CBOABU for 3 years in CT. Steven will be remembered as a man with a great sense of humor who loved joking and teasing those he loved. He was an active fundraiser for pancreatic cancer. He was a true fighter whose perseverance should be emulated by all those lives he touched. Steven's life and death are marked by holidays, those times of year he especially cherished with his family.

There is not a day that has gone by in the last 6 years that I have not thought of my dear friend Steve and his family. I was blessed to be able to say Steve was my friend. I learned a lot from my Steve who I always felt was like the older brother I never had. I have nothing but wonderful memories of Steve that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Steve I miss you, but I know that you are still smiling in Heaven.

I remember Steve calling me because he was running late for our pre-game in basketball at St. Paul's. . He told me that he was at Yale getting a procedure done. Steve showed up on time and asked if I could check his CENTRAL LINE GOING DIRECTLY INTO HIS HEART CHAMBER (Steve knew I was a RN). I checked it which it looked intact. He asked me if I can tell that he had a med pump connected on his back. Since his striped shirt was loose on him no sign of the med pump. We went out and officiated a great game. This was amazing that First of all Steve did not cancel and secondly that he performed at such a high level. This is the TRUE MEANING OF "FIGHTING THROUGH IT". Steve I will miss you. Thanks for being such an inspiration. Wilson
