Susan Cipriani Obituary

Susan May Cipriani
May 22, 1949–March 15, 2026
Susan May Cipriani, 76, of Norwich, Connecticut, formerly of Durham, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 15, 2026, at her daughter's home in Virginia.
Born in New Haven on May 22, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Elsie (Allinson) Cipriani. She spent many years in the insurance industry before continuing her career in the nonprofit sector as a development analyst.
Known throughout the Durham community for her award-winning baking, canning, and crafts, Susan was a frequent winner at the Durham Fair. She also loved animals and enjoyed traveling to care for friends' pets-sometimes as far as Italy.
She is survived by her daughter Christine; her son-in-law Benjamin; her beloved granddaughters Brooklyn and Sierra; and many dear friends and relatives. She was predeceased by both parents and her brother, Randall Cipriani.
A celebration of Susan's life will be held at 11 a.m. on June 20, 2026 at the United Churches of Durham, 228 Main Street, Durham, CT. Attendees are kindly asked not to wear black, honoring her wish for a joyful remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, Susan requested memorial donations be made to the United Churches of Durham or the Durham Fair Foundation, or by performing an act of kindness in her memory.
