Walter Cihocki Obituary

Walter J. Cihocki III
On October 5, 2021 Water J. Cihocki III (Wally) passed away surrounded by family at Hartford Hospital. He graduated from Xavier High School in 1998. While there he played football Freshman year and wrestled all four years. He was chosen to be captain of the wrestling team his senior year. Walter went on to further his education at Johnson & Wales to study criminal justice. After two years of college Wally decided to come home and help his father with the family plumbing business that his grandfather Walt Sr. started. Through this time Walter became a Master Plumber as well as becoming skilled in many other trades: from carpentry to electrical, and also running heavy equipment. He really enjoyed the relationships he built with customers over the years.
Walter was always there to help a friend or family member any way he could. Wally was quick with a joke, and always the bright spot in a room. He enjoyed fishing in his younger years with his father. Growing up he enjoyed playing golf with his Papa and cousin J.T., and later playing in the OWLS league at PGC. He loved spending time with his children whenever he could. He also enjoyed going on hikes and geocaching with his family.
Walter enjoyed baseball, and his favorite team was the Boston Red Sox. Perhaps he is part of the reason they are having a great post season. He had a love for music, especially the Dave Matthews Band. He learned to play the guitar to entertain around the campfire.
Walter was predeceased by his father Butch and his Aunt Mary as well as grandparents on both sides. He is leaving behind his mother, Kathy Cihocki and his sisters Kindra and Heather Cihocki. He is also survived by his daughter Layla, son Jack, and their mother Sara Guilmette Cihocki. In addition he leaves behind many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends who all loved him very much.
There will be a celebration of life for Walter this Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Portland Golf Course, 169 Bartlett Street, Portland CT from 2-5 p.m. All are welcome to attend who loved and knew Wally and would like to come and swap stories and remember the best of him. It will be held in the open air barn and the family wishes you to join them.
